12th WaSOP kicks off

The Wallonie Series Of Poker kicked off on Wednesday evening with a satellite for the two tournaments that will attract the biggest crowds at the Circus Casino Resort in Namur... now it's time for the real battle with the traditional €330 Super Side, an event featuring 30,000 starting chips and 50-minute levels.

This tournament offers 6 starting days with three days of poker for those who go all the way. The structure is designed to allow players to develop their best poker... the unlimited re-entries option also makes it possible to catch up in the event of a bad-beat.

Matthieu Sustrac and Victor Saumont will take turns from July 27 to August 6 to bring you a panorama of what's happening at the tables of Belgium's only resort. 

The €1,100 High-Roller (July 31 to August 3) and the Mystery Bounty (August 5 and 6) will be a common thread throughout the €550 WaSOP Main Event (50,000 chips - 50/60 minutes), which features 6 starting days. The main course of the event runs from Wednesday August 2 to Sunday August 6.

45 players make it through a well-attended Day 1A, Ali Kaya takes the lead in the sprint

Nice turnout for the first of six opening days of the €330 SuperSide at the 12th WaSOP
Day 1A brought together 238 entrants, and 45 of them bagged chips. after 10 levels and just over 8 hours of poker . These qualifiers will return on Monday at 2pm for Day 2, which will again feature 50-minute levels and a start at blinds 1,500 - 3,000 (3,000). 

With 460,000 in chips, 15 times the starting stack and plenty of depth on the restart, Ali Kaya will have plenty of time to look forward to another huge prizepool tournament. 



Ali Kaya was ahead of Sandro Gangi and Aziz Kendel, with the duo neck-and-neck in the lead throughout Thursday's opening day. Sandro finished with 444,000 and Aziz with 426,000, in touch with the Day 1A chipleader. 

It was a good day for Stefaan Skippers, Yannick Ansenne, Bart Lybaert, Xavier Servais and Jorden Verbraeken, although only one player made the cut. Andriina van Workum also did well, returning with over 50 blinds...

43 players make it through Day 1B of the SuperSide WaSOP

Day 1B of the €330 SuperSide WaSOP attracted 230 entrants, bringing the tournament's provisional attendance to 468. A great score with 4 qualifying sessions left to play this weekend before Monday's Day 2!

With 43 players having completed the 10 50-minute levels on the opening days, 88 players have already earned their precious pass to the rest of the competition. On Friday, players such as Pierre Neuville and Antonino Mangano put up big stacks, while Raphael Canta, Bart van Heugten, Patrice Libert and Duc Nguyen also cleared the hurdle...

It was Dutchman Yuel Bereket who beat everyone to finish with just over 13 times the starting stack and 400,000 chips. He beat four Belgians including Amaury Guyot and Jhonn Lienard, chipleader for most of the day.

Xavier Servais qualified on Day 1A with 218,000 chips, Maxime went one better with 394,000 chips and the chiplead on Day 1C of the €330 SuperSide.

The third of six starting days for the WaSOP side event drew 237 entries to bring the provisional attendance to 705. With 54 players bagging chips for Monday's Day 2, 142 players have provisionally secured their berths for the remainder of an event whose guarantee is all but wiped out. 

Behind the Belgian, BP runner-up David Tal Ohana had a fine day despite a re-entry (233,000), while Ugur Cegen and Sule Talip also set up counters in ten 50-minute levels...

17 players pass 1D Turbo, 159 qualify for Day 2 ahead of a big Sunday

The fourth of six starting sessions at the SuperSide WaSOP 2023 brought the tournament's provisional attendance to 754 entrants, enough to almost wipe out the €250,000 guarantee ahead of two final qualifying sessions that look set to be well attended, on Sunday at the Circus Casino Resort in Namur. 

The €330 side event saw 17 players complete Day 1D, the first Turbo session of the SuperSide. Run over 25-minute levels, Day 1D saw Fabien Perrot, Olivier Baeten, Gaetano Moreci and Ricardo Fadel all bag up chips for Monday's Day 2.

Elias Bahri finished first with 5 times the starting mat in just under 5 hours of poker...

Registration is closed on Day 1F Turbo, with 131 entrants, and with the 433 entries accumulated on the recently concluded Day 1E, attendance for the SuperSide WaSOP XII is officially at 1,318 entrants. Enough to generate a prizepool of €366,000!

At the end of the ten 50-minute levels of the penultimate of the six starting days, 96 players joined the 158 qualifiers from the first four sessions. 254 players have qualified for Day 2 on Monday July 31, starting at 2pm... Just over one level remains on the Turbo, with some sixty players still in the running...

Dutchman Jerred MeyerHoven topped Day 1E with 392,000 chips. He finished ahead of the man to his right, Belgium's Bart Maes, who finished with 328,000. 



It was also a good day for Damien Hupé, Manu Poznanski, Dany Covyn, Sébastien Hetzel, Ugo Faggioli, Farukh Tach, Miguel Coussement and David Gaillard, all of whom will be back in action on Monday to chase the big bucks.

The 1,318 entries recorded have generated a prizepool of €366,404... There are 254 qualifiers for Day 2, with 28 minutes left to play on Turbo 1F. At the moment, 53 of the 131 entries for this final flight are still in the running...

297 players bagged up chips for Day 2 of the €330 WaSOP XII SuperSide. With a total of 1,318 entrants, the final 191 players will not be going home empty-handed.

Min-cash at €505, and a €60,000 first prize accompanied by a €2,200 CPS ticket... there's more than €360,000 up for grabs in the prize pool on Monday July 31 from 2pm.

The last 6 players in the running will take a 5-figure payout, and Aurélie Dassi is still in the running. Runner-up in the previous edition after a 3-way deal for €96,000, the player bagged 120,000 chips on the Turbo 1F that closed the opening days.

Dutchman Maikel Rambaran bagged the most chips on Day 1F, with 325,500 in 10 25-minute levels. Quentin Crutel also passed the hurdle, as did Dorian Delecault and Greg van der Wecken, as well as Martin Schneiders...
