40 qualifiers and 17 Belgians on Day 2 4, Moktavarium in the lead

End of Day 3 of the €1,100 Belgian Poker Challenge after 6 levels of 90 minutes, with 183 to 40 players. Play resumes on Saturday at 1pm on blinds 15,000 - 30,000 (30,000) with Rayane Mokhtar in the lead. The Frenchman has already won in Namur, having won the WaSOP SuperSide for €50,000 a few years ago...

The end of the day was marked by the exits of Ukrainian Ryliakov and Rik van Etten. It was also the end of the road for Belgium's Henrik Symkens and Max Imus, the final eliminated of the evening after a blind battle in which Raoul Kanme open-pushed Roi 2 suité in the small blind. Max paid with King-Queen, but a 2 ended his run for €3,345.

Two Frenchmen in the lead, Barka aims for the double

The 40 survivors of the Belgian Poker Challenge have secured a prize of €3,345, a sum that only the first eliminated on Day 4 will pocket, as the Top 39 will secure at least €3,840... So close and yet so far from a €200,000 prize accompanied by a €2,200 CPS Main Event ticket!

The only one who knows the way is Samy Barka. The 2022 winner is still out there, ahead of Day 4, which will determine the finalists in this streamed final event... The Frenchman played a final hand against François Grossmann on Day 3.

After opening at the end of the hand, Samy called the Swiss's 3-bet to almost 10x before calling 275,000 on a Queen Ten 6 flop. On a King tournament, Samy raised the second barrel to half a million and Grossmann got out of the way... Enough for Samy to slip into the provisional Top 10...

Thanks Patron

The boss of Poker One played all or most of the tournament under 15 blinds, Damien Hupé resisted, resisted, resisted... and ended up putting it all in the middle for 7 blinds with Roi 9 suité after taking another tier. 3,840€ in the bag!

Grand seigneur, Damien put everything into giving air to a Belgian - indeed, it was Carmine Giordano who woke up with ace-queen to take him out and continue his mission of resistance with just over half a million chips on 15,000 - 30,000 (30,000).

Play resumed at 1pm with 40 players and only one exit in half an hour. Eric Olausson is a Swedish amateur player who had planned to play everything this week... after a deep-run in the Cup and a deep-run through to Day 4 of the Main Event he will only buy-in twice! First to be eliminated on this penultimate day of the BPC Cup, Olausson defended Roi 3 suité to discover a flop with a Roi and his flush draw... the Swede checked-call, checked-call again on a 6 turn then checked-call on a river 6 for his all-in... to discover A6 in his opponent's hand and run into the richer €3,345 rail.

That's €3,840 for France's Donato Sparavilla and one less Belgian, as Roberto Mauro passed the final table following Olausson's exit before busting... after qualifying online for €5! This leaves 14 Belgians among the final 36 players...

The first break of Day 4 begins at 2.35pm, with a 15-minute break followed by a resumption of play on 20,000 - 40,000 (40,000)...

14:41

10 out of 10

After a quiet first half-hour, there was more action in the final hour of Day 4's opening level, with just 30 players reaching the break. Only 4 tables remain...

The biggest victim since the start is Dutchman Raoul Kanme (32nd - above). Chipleader for a long time on Day 2, in the top tier on Day 3 and at the start of this penultimate day of the BPC, Raoul didn't win many moves today. Down to 700,000 chips, he went all in with Ace-King after a limp and a 90,000 isolation from Samir Bou Dahdir... the Frenchman had pawned Aces and found an easy call to get up to 1.6 million chips.

Just before the break, Nico de Cleene (31st - above) bowed out, leaving his compatriot Mike Niegho in last place. De Cleene disappeared in unknown circumstances, while David Beaune was struck by Dutch lightning. The Frenchman from Harfleur Poker Club opened 65,000 under the gun before going all-in when he was 3-bet to 225,00 by Bram Berkvens. Snap from Bram with the Kings, David has the Queens and drops to 740,000 chips a bard later. Berkvens climbs to 1.5 million, right on schedule.

A few minutes before, Namur Classic's winner Adrien Grande (33rd) jumped... Down to 3 blinds, the Belgian rolled into the rail on a last-ditch flip. Another local victim, Adrien Fraiture (36th - below). Adrien 3-bet size with 20 blinds and called with queens when Raphael Canta placed a cold-4 bet for his stack. The opener stepped aside and Adrien impaled himself on his compatriot's kings. Raphael Canta was up to 2.4 million at the break, after a few counters before the setup...

6 Belgians jumped out during the first level, with Switzerland's Samiyel Duzgun (34th) leaving Fabian Rolli all alone to defend his flag...

Resuming at 2.50pm on blinds 20,000 - 40,000 (40,000) with an average of 2.1 million chips. Just before the break, Samy Barka took on Martin Schneiders in a blinds battle to reach 3.4 million... well away from Rayane Mokhtar (5.3 million) or Mathias Henin (4.85 million) or Miro Alilovic (4.9 million) but in the wheel of Mantas Urbonas (3.3 million).

15:49

One in 3

Three Belgians out of the last four to leave... complicated passage for local players with half an hour left to play on 20,000 - 40,000 (40,000) with an average of 2.4 million.

There are 8 representatives left from the Belgian poker with 25 players left, and Mthias henin is the best-placed of the local players...

16:11

Three Tables

Only 24 players remain in the running for the Belgian Poker Challenge 2024 Main Event, following the elimination of Mathieu Alciato and François Grossmann. Play resumed with 18 minutes on 20,000 - 40,000 (40,000) and an average of 2.6 million and €5,050 guaranteed. The 23rd-placed player in the BPC 2024 will pocket €5,860...

Mathieu fell to his compatriot Samir Bou Dahdir on a big setup. Samir opened a pair of 4s under the gun and Mathieu defended with 3s to check-call a continuation bet on the Jack 6 Jack flop. No action on turn 3 (!) and all to go on river 4 (!)... Mathieu takes the initiative on the river before calling for his stack and discovering the bad news. Samir climbs to 3.3 million as the field dwindles to 25.

Then David Beaune opened and sent in 1.6 million chips when Rayane Mokhtar palmed a 3-bet to 330,000 chips in the big blind. As Rayane hesitates, François Grossmann attacks Miro Alilovic's big blind, but the Frenchman goes nowhere. Neither is Moktavarium, as he pays with the jacks to drop to 3 million since there are Aces in front. David Beaune raises to 3.3 million at the best possible moment.

Meanwhile Miro checke-raises to half a million on a Jack Ten 7 board with a flush draw. Grossmann has bet 125,000 and pays the raise before calling on the Ten turn opening a second flush draw. Miro Alilovic has this time bet 425,000 chips, he checks the river 6 of clubs which brings in the flop draw. François Grossmann goes all-in for just over 2 million and it doesn't take long for Miro Alilovic to send him packing with his Jack of Tens for a full house. Grossmann reveals Ace 3 of clubs for max flush, heading for 25th place for the player from Charleroi! Miro climbs to 9.6 million chips, well ahead of a tornoi where Konsantin Faerber is the only player to keep pace, with over 5.5 million in front of him...

Louis Marchandise got off to a good start by finding an unlikely flush draw well behind Raphael Canta, while Mike Niegho also gave himself some breathing space by winning a flip pair of 3s against King-Queen...

We meet again during the break for the redraw and a more precise chipcount.

17:00

Redraw

24 players are still in the running for 25,000 - 50,000 (50,000) on the BPC 2024... you need two starting stacks when you're in the big blind, but the average is still 2.6 or 51 blinds!

The Coat

It was the end of the road for Mantas Urbonas, who found the queens 40 blinds deep and crashed into the kings of France's Rayane Mokhtar. The Latvian found no help on an Ace Ten 2 5 6 and board and cashes €5,050 for his efforts. Moktavarium climbs to 6.2 million and takes up an option for the rest.

He preceded the last Luxembourger in the rail, Naim Bouhraoua, who pocketed €5,860 for his 23rd place. The BPC is an international tournament, and it was the end of the road for the Japanese player in the field. Takushi Shiratori had won a 20-80 all-in against Konstantin Faerber at the end of Day 3, and finished in 22nd place in the 1,259-strong Belgian Poker Challenge.

An hour of play remains in the 25,000 - 50,000 blinds (50,000), with an average of 3 million chips or 60 blinds. You need to finish 20th to cash in for €6,950 and extra euros...

17:26

Auf Wiedersehen

It's all over in 21st place for Martin Schneiders, as the German's streaming team packs up for this tournament, which you can follow here as well as on PokerCity or ClubPoker. The PokerStars player hadn't been on a winning streak for a level and didn't win a move until he went into push or fold mode. "xfelixx" had just moved all-in under the gun without getting paid when his neighbor on the right moved all-in straight from the button.

Dutchman Rob Hendrikx shoved 480,000 or 10 blinds and the German called Ace 8 with 1 more blind. Despite a fop King Jack 8, it was a Queen turn that put Schneiders in a big blind. No unlikely scenario on river 5, go 1.1 million for the Dutchman.

On the next hand, Hendrikx min-raised from the cutoff to 100,000 and Team Pokerstars put in 155,000 chips and all-in from the button. In the small blind, Mathias Henin raised 400,000 to discard Konstantin Faerber (6.2 million) and the opener. Martin revealed a pair of 6s and came out against the Belgian's ace-valet after a 3 2 3 jack 7 board. Henin climbs to the same stack as his left-hand neighbor... 6.1 million and a dream.

35 minutes of play remain on 25,000 - 50,000 (50,000) with 19 players as Artan Dedusha joins the rail in the process (20th)... €6,950 richer himself. The average goes up to 66 blinds!

Fabian Rolli raised to 1.8 million in the small blind against Louis Marchandise. The Belgian preferred to hold on to 1.6 million after nearly two minutes' thought on a 2 6 3 6 board with two clubs on the flop... At this table, Miguel Coussement (3.4 million) and Yoann Ramaekers (4.2 million) have taken the lead, but Samy Barka remains in the game, in ambush with 2.7 million chips and a very good block.

18:07

Ouch

It's time for a break, with play resuming at 6.30pm on blinds 30,000 - 60,000 (60,000) with 17 survivors left in this field of 1,259 entrants to the Belgian Poker Challenge 2024.

While Samy Barka moves back up to 3.5 million chips after a winning blinds battle with Miguel Coussement, Miro Alilovic escapes to the top of the leaderboard... thanks to a big moove from the festival's Super High-Roller winner, Vincent de Neve.

The Frenchman opens in the small blind and pays the German's 3-bet to reveal a 9 3 6 flop. Alilovic check-raises to 350,000 chips on the opponent's continuation ise and De Neve puts it all in almost instantly for 1.2 million chips. It's snap by Miro who turns over the 3s for three of a kind, Vincent shoots dead with Ace King without a backdoor! Direction 10.7 million for the tricolor while there are 63 million in circulation!

Vincent de Neve (above) pockets €6,950, as does Mike de Niegho, defeated on a 2-outers.
Mike de Niegho had qualified at the end of Day 1A with exactly the same starting stack as before, and by the end of Day 2, when the bubble burst, he had wrapped up 1.4 million chips. This time, Mike will be thinking about his exit for a long time to come. The Belgian opened under the gun and his compatriot Mathias Henin paid at the cutoff. On the Queen Jack 6 flop Mike bets 100,000 and pays Mathias' 200,000 raise before checking the Ace turn.

With Ace-Queen in his hands, Mathias bets 200,000 and quickly pays when Mike goes all-in for 800,000. Mike then turns over the queens for three of a kind... he's only afraid of an Ace, which the dealer unlocks on the river! Henin climbs to 7.4 million as Mike (below) joins the rail after this bad beat, also for €6,950.

The 17 players in the running are guaranteed a payout of €8,35.

18:43

Two Tables and a Dream

The Final Table is approaching, they are down to 16 and play has just resumed after a redraw... 77 minutes left to play on 30,000 - 60,000 (60,000)... the fault of a huge 3-way shot!

Samy Barka opens in the Cutof to 125,000 chips and the Frenchman is greeted by Louis Marchandise (below) in the small blind. The Belgian goes all-in for 1,075,000 chips... and it doesn't take long for Samir Boudeliou to go all-in from the big blind for 1.6 million. Headache, a minute goes by, two minutes go by... "I'm behind, I'd like it if they had the same hand," Barka says, before finally paying up too.

The winner of the BPC 2022 turns over 9s and faces Aces at Boudeliou and King Jack at Marchandise! The dealer unwraps a 7 8 Jack 5 Queen board that causes redraw on two tables after Samy Barka unsuccessfully calls "a 6, a Ten, a 9" on the turn. Louis collects €8,350 for his deep-run.

The average is 3.9 million... Samir rises to 4.3 million chips for the semi-finals!

Table 42

Table 42

19:07

10,000€ in your pocket...

... but not for Fabian Rolli. The Swiss rolled into the rail after 3-betting all-in when he was check-raised to Jack 9 2 with a flush draw. After defending from the big blind with a powerful pair of 2s, Samir Boudelieu accepted the invitation with his three of a kind and discovered Dame Dix in the Swiss. Rolli pockets €8,350 after a turn 6 and a river 3...

The last 15 survivors are guaranteed to turn their €1,100 buy-in into a 5-figure payout. With just under an hour to go before the dinner break, the game is being played on blinds 25,000 - 50,000 (50,000) with an average of 4.2 million chips.

19:24

La Tuille

End of the road for another Belgian... eliminated by a Belgian of course. Rayane Mokhtar opens to 145,000 chips at the start of the hand and Mathias Henin wakes up at the cutoff with a 36bet to 400,000 chips. From the blinds, Arno Thuy sends out the couscous for 760,000 chips and sends Moktavarium into deep thought. The Frenchman eventually passes and Mathias instantly pays up by returning 9 and Ten of Spades.

Thuy (above) unveils the red Kings and loses at the end of an As 9 3 2 9 board! "Not bad to get away with it when I threw away two Tens," laughed Rayane as Thuy left the playing area. "I've done worse elsewhere, a 2-outers," replies Mathias as everyone at the table lets out a chuckle. "You're doing the job at least," finishes Motavarium as Mathias climbs to 9 million out of 63 outstanding in this BPC 2024.

There are 14 players left with 35 minutes to play in the 30,000 - 60,000 blinds (60,000), and there will be a 75-minute dinner break just after 8pm... The average is 4.5 million chips, and the next outgoing player will cash €10,000 like Thuy.

20:16

Dinner break

Play resumes at 9:20pm on blinds 40,000 - 80,000 (80,000) with 14 players guaranteed a €10,000 payout. There's still €720,000 to be shared in the prize pool, including a tempting €200,000 first prize accompanied by a €2,200 CPS Main Event ticket.

With a chip average of 4.5 million, it could be a long time yet!

Disembarked

A quarter of an hour before another break, the BPC 2024 players have played an hour of poker since the dinner break... the game is played over 40,000 - 80,000 (80,000) and there are only 12 players left, all guaranteed a win of €12,307.

The restart proved fatal for two players, including the last remaining BPC winner in this tournament, which attracted 1,259 entrants. The average chip count rose to 5.2 million, and it was two French players who came out on top. Miroslav Alilovic continued his demonstration by eliminating Mosjin El Yakoubi. The Dutchman lost a final 30-70 preflop to bow out in 14th place for €10,000. Miro climbed to 11 million chips to lead the tournament

A few minutes later, Samy Barka a cold 4-bet shove all-in for 2.1 million with Kings. Rayane Mokhtar had 3-bet 525,000 chips after an open, the Frenchman didn't back down with Tens... to square up from the flop. "I was confident, I believed in it," said Samy minutes after his busto in 13th place for €12,307. Moktavarium is up to 8 million of the 63 chips in circulation...

There will be a new winner of the Belgian Poker Challenge on Sunday evening... Four Belgians, five Frenchmen, two Dutchmen and a German are still on track.

23:09

Who will crack?

The game is now being played on blinds of 50,000 - 100,000 (100,000), with 500,000 chips making an appearance.

Play will not stop until the 9 finalists in this Belgian Poker Challenge are revealed. Miroslav Alilovic is firmly in the lead in a tournament with 63 million chips in circulation.

His table is the biggest, as you can see from the chipcount below. Konstantin Faerber has been moved during a balancing act... on the other hand, there are just over 19 million chips on table 42. Three players are set to jump before the end of Day 4, and no one is going to step up to the plate when the average is 52 blinds!

Table 40 (in order of seating)
Mathias Henin (Belgium) 8,200,000
Miroslav Alilovic (France) 12,875,000
Konstantin Faerber (Germany) 9,125,000
Raphael Canta (Belgium) 1,175,000
Rayane Mokhtar (France) 8,225,000
Tobias Peters (Netherlands)Bas) 3 400 000

Table 42 (in order of seating)
Miguel Coussement (Belgium) 2 400 000
Rob Hendrikx (Netherlands) 3 000 000
Samir Boudeliou (France) 4 150 000
Yoann Ramaekers (Belgium) 4 400 000
Samir Bou Dahdir (France) 1 500 000
David Beaune (France) 3 700 000

23:38

Canta out of final, Coussement in red zone

Solid throughout the tournament, Raphael Canta started ahead of his compatriot Mathias Henin, but finished behind. After an open under Mathias' gun, Raphael sent in 7 blinds with ace-Queen mismatched at the end of the hand... he was paid by King 7 of diamonds at the opener.

The dealer unpacked a 4 5 6 Queen 6 board with a diamond on the flop, a diamond on the turn and a diamond river, exiting Canta in 12th place for a win of €12,037. Mathias Henin climbs to 8.4 million chips after this move, averaging 57 blinds with two eliminations to go.

With just over an hour to go on this 50,000 - 100,000 (100,000) level, Miguel Coussement is in danger. The Belgian called an open from David Beaune under the gun. Just to the left of the Frenchman, he paid Beaune's continuation bet of 225,000 chips on a King Jack 3 flop then the Queen turn opening a color draw to clubs put the brakes on the action. On the river 7 of spades, David checked-raised to 1?2 million leaving himself 500,000 behind! Miguel hesitated for four minutes before paying and mucking his King-Queen when he spotted Ace-Ten for a straight in the Frenchman's hand. Beaune reraised to 4 million, almost at the top of the smaller table.

A few minutes before that, David Beaune lost 20-80 preflop trying to eliminate Samir Bou Dahdir. The Frenchman is now down to 2.7 million after holding 7 to 5 all-in preflop... "go and sit down, red shirt", he shouted at Canta, who had come to watch the board unfold!

The next two winners of the Belgian Poker Challenge will take home €14,430.

23:59

Last Shake

Down to 7 blinds, Miguel Coussement ended up sendingDame 9 suit from the cutoff and Samir Boudelieu paid with a pair of 7s in the blinds to take him out and climb to 4.1 million in chips.

"I found out at the payout that I'd taken 14,000 and the landing, I'm smiling again... I made a mistake of the tournament by paying that river," Miguel Coussement concludes after his 11th-place finish in this Belgian Poker Challenge 2024.

With 50 minutes left to play on 50,000 - 100,000 (100,000) when the Belgian jumped, there are now 35 minutes left in this round... and Konstantin Faerber has just climbed to 11.6 million. The German opened and paid in position a 900,000-chip 3-bet from the Belgian before paying the 600,000-chip continuation bet on 3 2 7 rainbow. On turn Ten opening a spade draw, Mathias check-folded instantly when Faerber bet 1.2 million. Henin slipped to 6.1 million, while Miro watched the scene quietly from the top of his 12?8 million chiplead.

There are 63 million chips in circulation and we're on the bubble for the BPC 2024 final!

00:38

Last break

Probably the last break of Day 4 on this Belgian Poker Challenge as it's the bubble of the €1,100 Main Event final. Play resumes on 50,000 - 125,000 (125,000) with an average of 6.3 million chips. Mathias Henin has just lost two big moves in the last quarter of an hour.

Konstantin Faerber spiked to 12 million starting work on Mathias Henin. Mathias had nearly 8 million when he 3-bet from big blind on an open cutoff from the German. Faerber paid before calling another 600,000 on a 3 2 7 flop. Mathias checked-folded turn Ten bringing up a flush draw, slipping to 6 million.

Miro Alilovic is in the lead with 17 million chips after 3-betting an open from Mathias Henin. Mathias called 650,000 from the preflop cutoff, then 725,000 on the flop and 1?6 million on the turn before checking-folding river, leaving himself 2.5 million on Miro's shove. Alilovic confessed to having the Jacks on 6 3 4 6 2 with a flush draw flop that never went in...

Finally, at the start of the break when there were no cards left on the table where there are 21 million chips in circulation... Konstantin Faerber placed a 3-bet from the small blind to an open button from Miro Alilovic. From the big blind, Rayane Mokhtar joined the party and Miro slipped away, provoking a duel on Queen 3 5 with a club draw. There, Faerber will check-call 750,000 chips before checking the Ace turn and snap folding to Rayane's 2.4 million bet. Moktavarium reaches the break with 9.8 million, while Konstantin Faerber is around 10 million.

The BPC top three are in place for this TF bubble!

01:55

Beaune Nuit

With 49 minutes left to play on blinds 50,000 - 125,000 (125,000), David Beaune has just missed out on the final of the BPC 2024. The Frenchman finished 10th for €14,430, the last to be eliminated from a Day 4 that began at 1pm with 40 survivors from a field of 1,259 entrants.

The finalists will return for a televised final with the cards revealed, on Sunday on the networks from 1.30pm. The final 9 players in the running are guaranteed a €19,007 prize for their participation... there's still over €656,000 of the prizepool to be shared, and a €200,000 first prize up for grabs.

David Beaune held out to try and sneak into the final, eventually calling for 800,000 chips with a mismatched Queen 8 when SamirBou Dahdir went all-in straight from the small blind. The Frenchman flipped over Ten and 5 and called a 7 on the flop of a 6 9 8 board and was straight to the turn. With the river changing nothing, it was the end for the Frenchman from Harfleur Poker Club. A magnificent result in a strong field.

Several minutes beforehand, a number of exchanges took place at the other table, the one with the sharks and chips in these semi-finals. Two big moves involved Miro Alilovc, cipleader on the eve of the final...

On the first, Miro Alilovic defended in the big blind and check-called a bet on the flop before taking the lead on a 7 Queen Jack 2 2 board with two clubs on the flop and a final river club. Alilovic bet 1.4 million river and hesitated for 5-6 minutes when Konstantin Faerber raised to 5 million with 2.6 million behind. The German didn't waver for an infinite time and Miro finally made face-up Dame 9 of clubs. The Frenchman now held the lead at just over 15 million, but the Eureka High-Roller winner climbed to just under 11 million.

Minutes later, Tobias Peters opened to 250,000 before going all-in for 3.4 million on a 925,000-chip 3-bet from the small blind at Miro. Alilovic weighed up his decision for a further four minutes before putting down a chip to pay... for a split without suspense as both men split. At this point, Mathias Henin was down to 2 million and David Beaune to 1.1 million... the decision was very close.

Miro Alilovic chipleader, €656,000 to share in BPC final

After a Day 4 that saw the field drop from 40 players to 9 finalists in a 12-hour day, the survivors of this Belgian Poker Challenge 2024 are guaranteed a €19,007 ticket. Omar Lakhdari's successor will walk away with €200,000 and a €2,200 CPS Main Event ticket.

Chipleader and big-event titlist Miro Alilovic showed talent and a solid run to reach the final with 16.2 million of the tournament's 63 million outstanding. The Frenchman leads a cosmopolitan group into the final, with 4 French players still in the running, as well as 2 Belgians, 2 Dutchmen and a formidable German, Konstantin Faerber.

Winner of a Eureka High-Roller, Faerber will advance with 11 million chips and the second-largest stack among the finalists. He is just ahead of Rayane Mokhtar aka Moktavarium, a player who has already won a title in Namur, having won his one and only televised table at a SuperSide WaSOP, where he turned €330 into €50,000! Mokta is a candidate for the title, like the two players mentioned above, but there are others who can believe in it. Traffic jam in the final, where ICM and resistance to pressure will play a big role.

No one can rule out Tobias Peters from the shortlist, the two-time WSOP Circuit winner and WSOP champion has just over 20 blinds but remains a dangerous player capable of going all the way. Rob Hendrix and Mathias Henin also showed good form, as did Yoann Ramaekers and the two Samirs. Launched with a 4 all-in on the flop on Day 1, Samir Boudeliou hasn't let up in three days and is showing great solidity. The more whimsical Samir Bou Dahdir hasn't given up on blowing things up... All the ingredients for a great final. See you on Sunday!
