#WaSOP XIII - Super Side Day 1/C

15:03
100 players to get started
The third of six starting days for the €330 SuperSide WaSOP kicked off with a full house. There were already just over 100 players in the running on Day 1C, which featured 10 45-minute levels.
Participants have received 30,000 chips and are starting on 100 - 200 for the tournament's only no-ante level. Three levels then follow before the traditional 30-minute break...
The dinner break will take place at the end of level 6, between 8am and 9.10am. Registrations are permitted until the start of level 10, the last of the evening, at around 11.45pm.
Shuffle up and deal!

Say 500
A quarter of an hour into the game and the table shows 124 entries for 124 players seated at the Circus Casino Resort tables, the SuperSide has just passed the 500-entry mark.
Among the players present are Daniel Pirlot, Damien Hupe, Thomas Jansen and Summer winner Ismael Boujahma. Robin Cornet, Valentin Bury and WaSOP 2015 winner David Debue are also already at the tables...

First Blood
It took just over 35 minutes of play to secure the first casualty of this Day 1C of the WaSOP 2024 SuperSide. Two players even jumped at the same time!
While Thierry Brichet disappeared under unknown circumstances, Ferdinando Campo jumped at the end of a shot that made waves. It all began with an open under the gun from Remco Verbakel at 400 chips.
The min-raise is paid once before a player in MP raises to 1,600 chips. At the cutoff Ferdinando cold 4-bets to 4000 chips... not enough to scare the boss of Poker One.
Damien Hupe pays cold from the button with a pair of 9's... and the floor goes back to Remco who calls all-in for the starting pot.
A whimsical and aggressive player, Remco tries his luck again after being spotted on Day 1B... so he doesn't necessarily have the credentials of a monster.
Farandole of folds nonetheless up to Ferdinando. The former Brussels dealer decides to commit his stack too, which makes Damien fold.
Remco reveals the Aces, Arrows that will hold up against the Jacks of his opponent, out of the tournament after a Ten Ten 8 7 6 board. "I was making a straight," laughs Damien as Remco positions himself in the lead for the morning break...

Toujours du Monde in Namur
The serious business begins, and the game is now played over 100 - 300 (300), with crowds still swelling. The tables are gradually opening up, with the table now showing 158 players and 162 entrants.
Lukas Trzcinski, Sabrina Senden, Rens Buijs, Hadrien Gallois, Daniel Dodet, Pierre Neuville and many others took their seats in the main hall of the Circus Casino Resort in Namur...

16:20
New Players
Ten minutes to go before the second blinds go up and we enter the third level of Day 1C of the WaSOP 2024 SuperSide... the blinds will then be 100 - 300 (300).
The players continue to arrive... Abdel Chenoufi, Anthony Bui Ngoc, Denis Charlier, Thomas Denie and Roger Edain are in the game. So is Cyril Fabre from Toulouse.
David Kahan, Moncef Karoui, Ivo Hermans, Mehidi Sahli, Benoit Kozubski, Fabio Percio, François Louis Vlassis are also there, as is the bubble-boy from PLO Event #5. Morgan Poisson (below during his Closer 7-Handed Festival 2023 victory, ed. note) headed for the SuperSide just minutes after jumping into 18th place in this two-day Pot Limit Omaha event...

16:45
Inflatable
Four more entries and Day 1C will already be the biggest of the SuperSide WaSOP 2024. The table shows 189 entries with 30 minutes left to play on the third level of the third opening day.
171 players are competing in the 200 - 400 blinds (400), with many regulars taking part. Marielle Soumoy, Harrie Snijders, Billy Tuaiva, Alexandra Quach, Diren Yildiz, Isabelle Verjans, Roger Sacre, Paul van Oort, Fabrizio Quattrocchi, Angelo Mancuso or Marc Hannesse found their way to the casino this Saturday...

17:06
Say 200

The table shows 173 players in the running for a total of 200 entries... the break begins at 5.15pm, with a resumption at 5.45pm in blinds 300 - 600 (600)...

Van Oor at the helm
Play resumed a few minutes ago in blinds 300 - 600 (600), with 177 players in the running for 214 entries! The average is 36,000 chips and it's Paul van Oort (6th in last year's Summer Festival for €10,500 below) who's off to the best start.
The redoubtable Dutchman opened with Kings and Armen Tamrazyan didn't believe him. The Belgian 3-bet before 5-betting all-in when he was clicked 4-bet... Van Oort is up to 120,000 chips after his opponent's ace-queen didn't hit anything to improve.

Say 600
Attendance continues to climb steadily on Day 1C of the SuperSide WaSOP. With 10 minutes left to play on 300 - 600 (600), the leaderboard now shows 227 entrants on the third opening day of this €330 tournament guaranteeing a €250,000 prizepool. Overall attendance has passed the 600 mark, with three flights remaining on Day 1D, which starts at 9 p.m. and will be played over 25-minute levels...
The final minutes proved fatal for Lukas Trzcinski, a German who has found his feet in Namur, where he won the Namur Classics Warm Up last March.
Lukas defended from the big blind and placed an all-in check-raise for 14,000 chips on Queen 7 9 with two clubs. Then the player under the gun reshoved 35,000 chips... and the button put his 35,200 counters in the middle after putting in 5,000 chips following a general check.
Lukas reveals mismatched Queen 5 at showdown, Zakaria Najimi returns Jack Ten of clubs for a draw and the button returns mismatched Queen 6... Lukas gets up on the turn of 7 of clubs, ending all suspense.
The button dives to 200 chips and will be out by the time I write this. As for Zakaria, he's up to 80,000 chips, a nice stack when the average is 39,000.

Aperitif
There are 25 minutes left to play on level 5 and an hour to go before the dinner break. A few players sample the local beer, the famous Tripick!
While the aprtie is taking place over 400 - 800 (800), the table shows 163 players in the running for 240 entrants! Mathias Moutaoukil arrived with his cameraman at the end of level 4, and the Moroccan regular from Namur wouldn't mind another deep-run at Circus Casino Resort.
Cedric Kedziora, Constantin Ifrim and Giuseppe Genco are also in this impressive field...

19:11
Big Stacks
A Club des 5 formed at the front, with 4 Dutch players and one Frenchman. The WSOP winner in this group is Romain le Dantec. The Frenchman arrived an hour ago and is now at 100,000 chips, in the hunt behind the Oranje.
Harrie Snijders has taken the lead on Day 1C with 160,000 chips, ahead of Paul van Oort (117,000), Wim Buys (112,000) and Wesley Oudshoorer (110,000).
Three minutes remain before the switch to blinds 500 - 1000 (1000) for the final level before the 70-minute dinner-break. The table shows 158 players at the tables for 242 entrants and an average of 46,000 chips...
Nicolas Mathis will have to pot again if he wants to see Day 2. The Frenchman has 3-bet shove a small stack of blinds with Ace 9 after an open...
Belgian Santi Sungkapas called with Ace 7 of diamonds to hit a 6 Ten 9 board with two diamonds and then a black 8 turn to make straight... before a 2 of diamonds river confirmed his advantage. Santi climbs to 51,000 chips with this preflop 30-70!

20:09
Dinner break
Play is on hold until 9.10pm, when at least 118 players will return to the 500 - 1500 blinds (1500) and the 7th level of Day 1C of the €330-entry WaSOP 2024 SuperSide.
Isabelle Verjans gave up before the break on a bluff in u multiway that she had initiated. Mathias Moutaoukil had the same result, losing Kings to Ace-Queens to get back to 24 blinds... This duo will probably fork out for the "Turbo" 1D which starts at 9pm, with 10 25-minute levels on the program...
Rayane Mokhtavarium will be back in action after the break, on Day 1C, as he confided a few minutes before the end of level 6.
It's worth noting that table 35 is packed to the rafters with an average of 64,000 chips, and features 4 very well-stocked players. With 85,000 chips, Yurii Dubovytskyi is well behind Daniel Pirlot (171,000), Paul van Oort (185,000), Kamel Djemai (137,000) and Harrie Snijders (204,000). The big pots were rolling in here before the break, and with each new balancing act came a big stack!

Digestion
Level 8 got underway with 107 players competing for 258 entries on Day 1C of the SuperSide WaSOP. Eliminated at the start, Sabrina Senden has moved on to Day 1D Turbo, which has been running since 9pm.
On the third starting session of this €330 tournament, blinds are 1000 - 1500 (1500), with the final break of the day taking place at the end of this level.
Ingo Paulus, Robin Cornet, Roger Sacre and Constantin Ifrim have all jumped since the post-dinner resumption, and can either re-sign on this flight or move on to the 1D, which offers 25-minute levels but is currently only at level 3...
Ismael Boujahma, winner of the Summer a few weeks ago, is still in the fray on Day 1C!

22:20
Top 100
With 20 minutes left to play on the 1000 - 1500 (1500) level, 100 players still have ambitions of reaching Day 1 via this Day 1C of the €330 entry WaSOP SuperSide. The average stack is 78,000 chips, and things are getting tougher for Hadrien Gallois.
ZChance44 saw his buddy Cyril Fabre sit just to his left, but he also lost a big ace-queen to ace-king in Morgan Poisson. Hadrien is down to 30,000 chips, while Morgan has 100,000 at a table featuring David Debue (60,000) and Billy Tuaiva (55,000).
The meter is running a little higher on this third flight, as the Circus Casino Resort in Namur has now registered 259 entries. Late registration closes at 11.40pm for the start of the penultimate level of Day 1C.

Pierre Neuville is not tired, while Marc Hannesse has just given up the ghost!

The Last Hour
A quarter of an hour to play on blinds 1000 - 2000 (2000) and it will already be the last level of this Day 1C. David Kahan has just jumped in with ace-queen, while Guy Felder had the queens and held out against a third player with ace-4... heading for 145,000 chips after this strike for Guy.
Damien Hupé has far fewer chips, but is still smiling. Damien is up to 40,000 chips, or 20 blinds, after 3-bet shove with his neighbor on the right, who was open under the gun. After his opponent's fold, Damien in turn opens UTG and reveals the Aces when everyone else is going crazy. Laughing out loud at a table where Rens Buijs (240,000) continues his grind...
It was Mohamed Boulakhrif who took the lead with 340,000 chips, after a brief stint at a table which has since been broken, a table which featured Pierre Neuville, Daniel Pirlot and Ismael Boujahma...
Olivier Hegy doubled up with Ace-King against Ace-Queen to reach 70,000 chips, while Nessym Guetat, a doubles player in civilian life, currently holds 85,000 chips... an area that a former SuperSide winner would like to reach. To do so, Rayane Mokhtavarium will have to double. The Frenchman has already won the SuperSide and the BPC in Namur, and is now under the starting cellar after havingMax late reg'!

262 entries on Day 1C
Level 10 has begun... with the start of the final level of Day 1C, registration is closed for the third opening day of the €330 SuperSide. The organization closed with 262 entries, the biggest day before a big Sunday featuring two final flights.
The game is now played on 1000 - 2500 (2500) for the last 40 minutes of poker the evening. Hadrien Gallois gave up the gauntlet in a preflop 3-shot won by Stéphane Vautrin. Vautrin had Ace-King against zChance 44's 6s and a third player's tens... he hit an Ace to shave everyone and climb to 225,000 chips.
Billy Tuaiva, Joao Faria, Cedric Kedziora, Antoine Haussetete and Wesley Peinen headed for the rail. Finito too for Rayane Mokhtavarium, who went all out with Roi Valet suité only to see Mehidi Sahli wake up with Les Rois. Ouste Mokhta will surely run out on Day 1D Turbo while Mehidi climbs to 120,000 chips.
Just above the average at 117,000... There are still 67 in the running for a berth on Day 2!

The clock has stopped, and the 60 players still present on Day 1C are playing the last four hands of the evening before wrapping up. Pierre Neuville and Rens Buijs are neck-and-neck, with 400,000 or so chips in front of them... Will Mohamed Boulakhrif come out on top again?

Pierre Neuville dominates Day 1C
WhileAnthony Bui Ngoc lost a big 80 - 20 to finish at 72,000 (and propel Sandy Darin to 136,000 chips), Pierre Neuville won a final hand to end the day in command.
The WSOP Main Event finalist strikes again in Namur, packing in just over 14 times the starting stack. He finished ahead of PokeraLille president Benoit Kozubski and Rens Buijs, fresh from winning the Lex Live High-Roller in Barcelona...
The third of the six starting days of the €330 SuperSide is currently the busiest of the tournament, with 262 entries recorded at the Circus Casino Resort in Namur. A total of 58 players have bagged chips for Monday's Day 2... bringing the total number of qualifiers to 135...
