SuperSide Power 12

The 13th edition of the Wallonie Series Of Poker kicked off on Wednesday with a satellite for the SuperSide and the festival's €550 Main Event guaranteeing €1 million to share for the winners.

This overall prize pool is set to be wiped out, thanks in particular to the €330 SuperSide entry which opens the event. This tournament offers 45-minute levels to start with, and a €250,000 guarantee that is set to explode.

6 starting days are on the schedule for this iconic Belgian poker tournament. In the previous edition, Bart Lybaert dominated a record field of 1,318 entrants to cash €60,000.

The Belgian is one of the few winners who didn't deal, as 4 editions didn't result in a financial agreement. Two-thirds of the time, it's a 330€ SuperSide!

Magic structure

The €330 SuperSide is organized around 6 starting days and a progressive structure. Four of the six opening days feature 45-minute levels... the weekend's two Turbo Days still offer 25-minute levels, leading up to Monday's 50-minute levels on Day 2.

The Final Day on Tuesday, July 30, will feature hour-long levels, with streaming cards revealed so you don't miss any of the action...

Each starting day offers 30,000 chips to its participants, with 10 levels to pass in order to reach Day 2 on Monday at 2pm. The tournament carries a €250,000 guarantee... in the previous record-breaking edition, Bart Lybaert took the lion's share of a prizepool of almost €400,000

The regulars are here

Lots of familiar faces at the Circus Casino Resort in Namur to kick off this 12th edition of the WaSOP SuperSide.

The game started with around 50 players at 3pm... and by the end of the first level, played on blinds 100 - 200, the only level of the tournament played without an ante, only 82 players were left in the field for 85 entrants.

Players continued to arrive on 100 - 300 (300) and the 100-entry mark was passed shortly after the first hour of play. Level 3 took place on blinds 200 - 400 (400), so there was already plenty to see.

The two-hour mark was reached with 103 players in the running for 120 entrants, and the survivors of the first three 45-minute levels then beaked off for the traditional first half-hour break...

Among the players present at the start of this WaSOP Event #2, we'll note the willingness to play of Pierre Neuville, Moahmaed Daher, Nikolas Wicquart, Guy Goossens, Giovanni Dupont, Reda Haidar, Aurélie Dassi, Thomas Alarcon, Thomas Denie, Denis Charlier, Guillaume Gillet, Yannick Ansenne or even Daniel Domb, Arnaud Danes and Patrick Zallum...

No empty chair policy in Namur!

17:20

Toujours du Monde...

The regulars continued to arrive as the first break of the first SuperSide flight came into view with just under 130 entrants.

Circus Casino Resort de Namur figures in the poker room included Frenchman Samir Bou Dahdir, who finished 5th in the last BPC for just over €50,000.

Belgium's Bjorn Frings has also entered the fray, as have David Cammarata, Mehidi Sahli, Bregt Winters, Bennardo Gattuso, Patrick Hutsch andMoncef Karoui. Kristof Everaerts, Raphael Muller, Vincent Thys, Tim Verheyen, Fedele Ricotta and Said Saddalah are also at the tables on Day 1A...

Twitcher Martin "xflix" Schneiders is also there... whileHadrien Gallois alias zchance44 will be joining us on Friday Day 1B.

Already 150 entries

Play resumed on blinds 300 - 600 (600) after an initial half-hour break on Day 1A of the €330 entry SuperSide WaSOP.

The table shows 112 players in the running for 152 entrants after 30 minutes of play on this 4th level of the opening day. The average is 38,000 chips and some players are already ahead of the game, like Vincent Thys, the Belgian being the first player to break the 6-figure stack barrier.

New Level

Play continues in blinds 400 - 800 (800) with 109 players in the running for 155 entrants and an average of 42,000 chips.

Registration is open until the start of the last level of the opening day, at around 11.40pm. Enough to enter with 15 blinds on 1000 - 2000 (2000) to double up in 45 minutes!

The dinner break will take place at the end of level 6, between 8.05 and 9.15pm. A funny exchange of arms at the table of Martin Schneiders, who is not streaming today... the fight begins preflop between Guillaume Gillet and Fedele Ricotta with an opening and a raise, but also a third player who fades on the flop.

The former footballer finally sent in 2,000 chips on Jack 6 7 with two spades and Fedele paid in button position. On turn 2 Guillaume sends a second banderilla to 3,500 chips, enough to create a pot of 22,000. The river is another brick, but Guillaume looks annoyed and checks... before rather quickly paying the 6,500 chips requested by Fedele.

Ricotta turns over the queens. And the former Anderlecht or Nantes player then reveals the same hand to the amused gaze of the table!

Top 100

The end of Level 5 is imminent, with 98 players now in the running for 166 entries on Day 1A of the SuperSide WaSOP. The average is 51,000 chips and Reda Haidar has just folded after going all-in on the turn with gutshot and a spade draw... his opponent had hit a pair and had the inferior spade draw.

The survivors of the almost 4 hours of poker since the start will now enter the 6th level and face off against each other on blinds 500 - 1000 (1000), so latecomers or those with the starting hand still have thirty blinds left...

Alexis Renard, Bregt Winters, Martin Schneiders, Vincent Vinet and Hervé Decker will also have to go back into the pot to hope to see Day 2...

20:01

Mort Ansenne

Yannick Ansenne left the playing area a minute before the dinner break. The Belgian was the victim of a bluffer... who had a better hand than him. "Morality, you have to bluff with a pair," laughed Yannick as he left the casino, since there would be no second ball on Day 1A. "Probably the high-roller," finished the young man before recounting his exit.

"The button opens to 2,300 chips, the small blind pays and I make it 13,000 in the big blind with Ace-Queen and 60 blinds at the start of the move," Yannick begins. In the small blind, Jean-Luc Labryga is the only one to pay to discover an 8 5 3 flop.

No action on the flop and a spade 8 turn which opens a flush draw... Jean-Luc comes out with 15,000 chips and Yannick pays. The dealer delivers a 7 river and Jean-Luc sends. Covered, Yannick follows his read and pays... Jean-Luc pats the table with a well-played hand, revealing a pair of 2's, enough to climb to 205,000 and take the lead into the dinner break.

The break begins with 83 players for 178 entrants... resuming at 9.15pm.

21:20

Reprise

The dinner break is over, and we're back with 83 players and 180 entrants for this €330 WaSOP 2024 SuperSide. The average is 65,000 chips and Jean-Luc Labryga seems to be in the lead with 210,000 chips.

After a 70-minute dinner break, the competitors from the opening day returned to 500 - 1500 (1500) for the 7th of the 10 levels scheduled for this Thursday... During the break, Aurélie Dassi told us that she had made Vincent Martino double just before the break, with Queens against King-Queens on a King-8-4-Queen-King board!

Si c'est Dassi J'y Vais Aussi

The end of the road for Aurélie Dassi on Day 1A of the SuperSide... and probably on the tournament itself, as the Frenchwoman doesn't seem too keen to try her luck again.

Runner-up of the 2022 edition for €32,000, the regular of the Circus Casino Resort in Namur 3-bet shove 12 blinds from the button after an open from her neighbor on the right. Aurélie turned over Ace Ten when she was paid by Jakob Merzenich. Jakob showed Ace 7 suited and hit a 2 7 7 Queen King board to take the glamour out of the tournament...

After passing a big bluff to Reda Haidar at the start of the day, Jakob continues to stack up and is now up to 93,000 chips for an average of 69,000.

There are 18 minutes left to play on blinds 500 - 1500 (1500) with 81 players in the running for 188 entrants...

22:03

A Demain

As the blinds just went up to 1000 - 1500 (1500), Martin Schneiders joined the rail. The PokerStars-sponsored German player 4-bet cold for all 30 blinds with Jacks.

Ali Bozdogan had opened with the Queens and he pays covered to make the 3-bet intercalated player surrender... Ali finishes with a full house to take "xflix" down to 4 blinds... a micro rug committed in the process and there will be no remontada. Bozdogan is at or near the average with 70,000.

With 40 minutes to go before the final break of Day 1a, the leaderboard now shows 79 players for 190 entries, with an average of 72,000 chips.

22:18

Top 70

The pace has slowed down a little, but not for everyone. Guy Goossens has just delivered a dumpling... with a smile, please. The one who's smiling, because it's going well, is Younes Akbal. On the right track from the start, Younes is up to 265,000 chips with just under a quarter of an hour to go before the end of level 8 and the final break of the day.

Jeffrey Verhappen has just climbed to 100,000 chips after opening the Kings and seeing his compatriot and neighbor on the left put it all in with Aces 9 sweat without success. Shoo James Bouhuys

At the next table, it's Alexis Renard who paid the shove at 33,000 chips from Gil Thierry on a 5 3 7 board with two hearts. The Belgian player turned over the Ten, an insufficient hand in the face of Alexis's Jack 4 of hearts. The croupier then unwrapped a 5 and above all a 6 on the river... Heading for a 6-figure stack for Said Saddalah's pal, present at this table with around 80,000 chips - the average.

23:03

Registration closes at 11:44 p.m.

The penultimate level of Day 1A of the SuperSide WaSOP 2024 has begun after a quarter-hour break. 66 players are competing at blinds 1000 - 2000 (2000)... at the end of this level, registration will be closed for this first of six opening days of the €330 per entry tournament.

The table shows 193 entries, a figure that's likely to rise slightly as, with blinds of 1000 - 2000 (2000) and 30,000 starting chips, some gamblers are sure to try their luck again 15bb deep!

The Last Hour

With 15 minutes to go before the end of registration and the start of the 10th and final level of Day 1A of the €330 WaSOP 2024 SuperSide... we've lost a few regulars in the last few minutes.

Exit for Thomas Alarcon or Daniel Domb and Rami Awad. While Thomas disappeared under unknown circumstances, Daniel 3-bet shove ace-queen from the small blind after a Rudolf de Boer open under the gun. Rudolf snapped the Kings and found a King doorcard to suck up a few more chips and sail above the 101,000-chip average.

There are 57 players left in lce for 193 entrants with Rami Awad hot on the action. In the big blind, Rami snapped up all 55 after a 30-blind open-shove from his neighbor on the right. Vilain revealed Ace 2 and hit an Ace to drop Rami to 18 blinds... and see him jump on the next hand.

23:54

193 entries on Day 1A

Level 10 is underway, with 54 players remaining for 193 entrants on this opening day of the SuperSide WaSOP 2024. It's the final straight before bagging, with the game being played on blinds 1000 - 2500 (2500).

The average is 107,000 chips and Fedele Ricotta has just jumped in. The Italian, a regular at Namur, will have to make another dumpling if he is to have any ambition of making it to Monday's Day 2... Identical verdict for Giovanni Dupont, Eddy Sebastianutti or Antonius Roberts...

00:05

Chenapan fox

Alexis Renard continues to reap the rewards, having just scored a strike with 6 and 2! A 6 2 7 flop with two spades, two players go all-in and Alexis pays with his two pairs in the big blind to discover Queen Ten of spades at home. Arnaud Danes and Kings at Cedric van Keerberghen. Two bricks later, the Frenchman remains ahead with 240,000 chips.

Game over for Dylan Royer, Rainer Merzenich, Pierre Neville or Domone Siripane with 20 minutes left to play on Day 1A... The table shows 47 survivors for 193 entrants and an average of 124,000 chips...

00:49

Jean-Luc Labryga dominates Day 1a

France's Jean-Luc Labryga proved to be the most efficient player on the opening day of the €330 SuperSide WaSOP on Thursday at the Circus Casino Resort in Namur, multiplying his starting stack by ten. Although 193 players were in contention on the first of the 6 starting days of Event #2 at this summer's must-attend festival, it was 40 other players who packed chips into the chipleader's wheel.

These survivors of 10 45-minute levels will be back on Monday at 2pm to battle it out over 45-minute levels. Jean-Luc will be back with more than 100 blinds, having bagged up 306,000 chips after 7 hours 30 minutes at poker. He will be joined by Rainer Emde, Hervé Decker (below) Alexis Renard, Younes Akbal, Mohamed Daher, Raphael Muller, Reda Haidar, Said Saddalah, Guillaume Gillet and Quentin Peeters. Quentin Peeters is still in the running for Side Event #3 Knockout Progressif

Join us on Friday from 3pm for Day 1B of the SuperSide WaSOP, a two-day PLO starting at 6pm... Tim Verheyen should be there, since if he's bagged 15,000 chips he's already announced his intention to surrender his stack in order to have more than 5 blinds next week at the restart...
