Kick-off for Super High-Roller BPC 2024

The most expensive tournament of the Belgian Poker Challenge festival kicked off at 3pm on Monday, with 23 players taking part. Participants received 100,000 chips and will compete over 10 levels of 45 minutes in this €3,300 per entry tournament, which guarantees a €100,000 prize pool. The prizepool will be exceeded, as 30 entries are required to reach it.

The event takes place over two days, and registration is open until the end of the first level of Day 2, on Tuesday at 1:45pm. Resumption will take place at 1pm with 20 blinds for latecomers...

For the moment, Team Pro PokerStars Simon Wiciak is the most bankable player in the tournament. The Frenchman is up against Quentin Destoky, who has just put in a fine performance online, as well as Denis Charlier, Mark Roovers, Johnny Nedved, Mathias Moutaoukil, Fabian Rolli and Romain Locquet...

We'll be updating you on this tournament after the dinner break, but especially at the end of the day, when the chips are expected to be packed in around midnight 30...

20 Final Day survivors, Late reg' open

With 51 entries for the festival's most expensive tornoi, the €100,000 guarantee has already been well exceeded. Entries/re-entries are available until the end of the first level of Day 2, at 1.45pm on Tuesday... enough to boost the prizepool to almost €148,000.

20 players cleared the first-day hurdle and, after 10 45-minute levels on the €3,300-entry Super High Roller of the Belgian Poker Challenge, it was a Dutchman who planted his flag at the top. Xiaohua Yang (below) multiplied his starting stack by 6 to give himself a head start.

He beat Switzerland's Leandro Dirlewanger and France's Romain Locquet. Two-time WSOPC winner and WSOP champion Tobias Peters was the last man eliminated on Day 1, while WSOP Europe champion Romain Le Dantec found a bag, as did PokerStars ambassadors Kenny Hallaert and Simon Wiciak.

Antoine Stackowiak and Jonathan Abdellatif are also in. Johny Nedved and Vincent de Neve will also be in the running when we resume on Tuesday at 1 p.m...

7 Late entries

The preliminaries are over for the most expensive tournament in the Belgian Poker Challenge 2024. Entries and re-entries were allowed during the first level of the €3,300 Super High Roller... enough to allow aufield to climb from 20 to 27 entrants.

Johnny Nedved re-entered unsuccessfully and is no longer in the tournament as play resumes with 17 players on blinds 4000 - 8000 (8000). These players, who have already played 90 minutes of poker on Tuesday, are on track to share a final prizepool of €168,000.

They now battle it out over 45-minute levels, and it's Vincent de Neve who leads the way. The German is at ease in Namur, slightly more so than Cornelis van Gent, Antoine Stackowiak and Fabian Rolli... all of whom were eliminated at the start of this Final Day.

No performance either for Arne Coulier, a regular winner in Namur. The 2014 and 2015 (!) BPC winner was the first outgoing player on Day 2 of the SHR BPC 2024...

In The Money

The 9 Super High Roller finalists are guaranteed not to go home empty-handed, but with a €4,870 ticket. Play is on hold until 6pm, when the final will start with blinds 10,000 - 15,000 (15,000) and an average of 644,000, enough to play for the biggest stacks!

The bubble burst with the combined exit of Floris Pop and Jérôme Arnaud. As Floris jumped, the 3rd of BPC 2023 got dirty on the other table at the same time. Jérôme moved all in after an open and a call, with 14 blinds and Ace King. The payer called King Jack to hit a Jack on the turn and reduce the field to 10 players.

Next up, Christos Triantaphyllou (pictured) failed in worst place on a hand where he went all-in before his turn. We're on the river and Vincent de Neve asks the dealer if he'll check if his opponent's action is blocked. When it's confirmed, Christos thinks there's been a check-check and reveals his hand... well behind Vincent's nuts, who picks up an extra stack. Exit Christos Triantaphyllou (10th)!

The race for €50,397 begins in earnest.

Head's Up

The last duel is announced on the most expensive tournament of the Belgian Poker Chllenge 2024 festival. The €3300 Super High Roller of the Belgian Poker Challenge has attracted 27 players, leaving just two in contention for the trophy and the 50K that goes with it.

There will be 26 minutes left to play on 20,000 - 40,000 (40,000) when the duel between Vincent de Neve and Xiaohua Yang resumes. Chipleader at the start of the day, the Dutchman will start with fifteen blinds, Vincent de Neve is well ahead.

The German gave himself Zhong Chen by instantly paying an open shove to 7 blinds from the Dutchman. Zhong flipped over Dame 2 suite and joined the rail in the wake of a 4 8 Dix 9 2 board... Vincent de Neve starts the head's up with 4.3 million of the 5.8 million in chips!

Vincent de Neve wins (€50,397)

A large chipleader going into the final duel, Vincent de Neve was caught out and the final pair decided to come to an agreement, leaving €5,000 to the win. Vincent thus secured €45,397 against €32,776 for his future runner-up.

On the 7th hand following the deal, Yang opened from the button and 4-bet all-in with Ace 8 suited... Vincent de Neve snapped with Ace Valet to claim his first major success in a 2 6 6 7 5 table.

The German is not signing his biggest win in the carirere as he finished 3rd in the 2017 WSOP Europe Main Event.... he now totals over $225,000 in live winnings after a final featuring Jonathan Abdellatif or Romain Locquet...

"I was just lucky," confided the champion as he often deep-run in Namur. "I'm always happy to come back here, I'm going to come every month now", he finished with a smile that should be seen again, as the German player is also already qualified for Day 2 of the BPC...
