#Holiday Poker Fest - Main Event Final

Salvatore Sablone chipleader at 32 left
Day 2 of the €250 Holiday Main Event saw the field of 304 players whittled down to 32 qualifiers for the final game.
Assured of a €1,065 payout, the survivors of this field of 1,697 entrants will return on Sunday at 2pm to battle it out over 50-minute levels... with a €50,000 first prize in their sights. The conclusion of the tournament will be broadcast live from the Circus Casino Resort in Namur.

With 239 places paid, it took less than an hour to hold the ITM. Players in the money began to share out just over €341,000 in prizepool prize money, with the likes of Pierre Neuville, Norman Bultot, Clayde Tjaw Foe, Emile Custine, Robin Splendido, Mihai Stinca, Dang Nguyen, Fred Davidts and François-Louis Vlassis picking up a new HendonMob line without making it to Day 3.
There are still 32 players in the running, and it's one of Namur's regulars who's in pole position. Salvatore Sablone (above left) was at the table where the badbeat jakcpot fell, cashing for just over €1,000 on the spot... and luck hasn't deserted him since.
The Belgian bagged up 5.5 million chips after being in a bad position in the middle of a day that spanned 11 40-minute levels. He made the cut and is now ahead of Reda Belkhou (below).
The Frenchman went three against three at the start of the day when he was already the biggest stack at the table, piled on non-stop afterwards and, despite a less crazy end to the day, finished with 4.4 million, ahead of the man who held the Yellow Jersey for a very long time, Shahram Rastegari (4.3 million).
Arnaud Danes, 8th in the provisional rankings, bagged 3.5 million. The game will resume on 60,000 - 120,000 (120,000), so the Frenchman is very close to the leading trio. Ahead of Danes, Marc Thumelaire (3.9 million), Daniel Pirlot (4 million) and Djamel Rezai (4.2 million) have been at the forefront throughout Day 2 and are shaping up as serious contenders.
With fewer chips, he will return with 2.2 million, but Wesley Peinen has the experience to turn things around. Five players will return with 10 blinds or less, including Fedele Ricotta and Alexis Renard, who was already short 8 blinds going into Day 2...
Don't miss the conclusion of this back-to-school tournament, on Sunday from 2 p.m... with 10 French players, 9 Belgians and 8 Dutch, the battle for the title promises to be exciting!

Folie
The game resumed with 32 players on 60000 - 120 000 (120 000) and the first 20 minutes of play were marked by the disappearance of Richard BreuskinAlmost at the start of Day 3. The Belgian cracked the Aces by Mosjin El YakoubiThe latter took the opportunity to climb to 5.8 million chips, neck and neck with Salvatore Sablone.
The other dinguerie at the start of the day was the absence of Michel Peeters. Chipleader of the last qualifying day, Friday's 1H Turbo Day, Michel didn't show up for the kick-off of the Final Day of this tournament which gathered 1,697 entrants.
Contacted to find out if there was a problem, Michel simply replied that he was going to take advantage of the good weather and that he didn't feel in the right conditions to play. If Michel isn't about to call the biggest bluff in the history of the Circus Casino Resort de Namur, his stack will be at 30 eliminations of a €50,000 ticket...

The Frenchman has just successfully checked-raised all-in after defending his big blind, and is now back up to almost 3 million.
Belgian Wesley Peinen (16th) was not so lucky and jumped out within the first ten minutes of the two-table reunification. The 15 survivors are guaranteed a €2,560 payout...

A final and a dinner break
After Wesley Peinen's quick exit at the last two tables, Alexis Renard and Pim van Wieringen quickly followed suit. In resistance mode, Fred Heyvaert was eliminated in 13th place by Mosjin El Yakoubi.
Sébastien Lonnoy gave himself some breathing space with a double-up before losing a few feathers in a battle of blinds against Danny Ummels. There was still €177,000 to go in the prizepool t nobody wanted to give up.
Last of the class, Markus Sippe put 2.5 blinds to the cutoff with Ace 7... only to be called instantly by Bertrand Lucas, whose tens didn't hold after a Ten Jack 9 8 4 board! At the end of this move, Bertrand was down to 8.6 million, while the Luxembourger was struggling to get back to 2.2 million.
It was at this table, in the 200,000 - 400,000 blinds (400,000), that the decision was made. In the small blind, Arnaud Danes shoved King 8 to be paid by Salvatore Sablone (photo) with Ace 9 in the big blind. Five cards later, Arnaud found himself in the rail and Salvatore with 7.6 million.
A fortune that would take him just a few minutes to give back to Bertrand Lucas. The latter took advantage of the situation to regain the tournament lead just before the final table.
The end was nigh for Sébastien Lonnoy... Down to 6 blinds, the Frenchman went 3-bet shove Roi 9 suité after an open from Sajjad Miah. The latter quickly pays with the Jacks and stays ahead of his opponent to provoke the ultimate reunification.
We're off to dinner, with a nice ticket to pick up as we digest the Top 0.5% of this tournament, which attracted 1,697 entrants!

Final Table kicks off

20:31
Déjà un Sortant
A short 15-minute final and then off we go for Markus Sippe. The Luxembourger sent just under 5 blinds into an unopened pot early in the game... only to be impaled in the kings of Sajjad Miah. The Belgian wakes up with a premium hijack and raises to isolate the first finalist...
Markus turned over King Ten and although the 5 Jack 9 flop opened up new possibilities, Turn 4 and River 5 confirmed the trend. Heading for the richer €4,795 rail for Sippe, enough to guarantee €6,235 for the 8 survivors in this field of 1,697 entrants.
Miah climbs to 14 million chips, a nice all-in at the end of the 200,000 - 400,000 level (400,000) with 84 million chips in circulation...

20:52
Battle of France
Djamel Rezai finishes in two stages. The Frenchman opens with a pair of 5's in the small blind and decides to call Kris Coeckelbergh 's 7 million stack in the big blind.
The Frenchman hesitates for a long time before calling and discovering a mismatched Ace 2 from the Belgian. Kris hits an A 4 Queen Ten 7 board to climb to 14.2 million and 36 blinds.
Down to 1.6 million at 4 blinds, Djamel Rezai (pictured) finally sends hijack with As 2 mismatched. Reda Belkhou opens Dame 5 in the big blind with a small stack and decides to pay... a good decision since the board As Dame 5 Dix Valet allows him to climb back up to 7 million and eliminate his compatriot.
Rezai pockets €6,235, while the last 7 players in the running take home €8,110...

With the move to blinds 250,000 - 500,000 (500,000), Danny climbs to 40 blinds or thereabouts...

Kris flips the Jacks and dominates the opponent's pair of 5s. One table later, the €2,200 CPS Main Event tickets bubble up...

There are no more Belgian players in this Holiday Main Event after the exit in 4th position of Kris Coeckelbergh.
Down to 8.9 million, the Belgian sends under the gun with a mismatched Dame Valet and Reda Belkhou wakes up in the blinds with Jacks. At the end of a Ten 2 3 King 8 table, the discussion for a deal begins... without a Belgian. And the deal is quickly struck!
Kris also wins a CPS Main Event ticket worth €2,200. The trio will battle it out for the remaining €5,000 and the title!

Danny lets the French explain
In the lead at the time of the deal, Danny Ummels eventually finished 3rd out of 1,697 entrants to this Holiday Main Event. The Dutchman cashed for nearly €36,000 and a €2,200 ticket to the year-end CPS Main Event.
Ummels signs his biggest career win thanks to this 3-player deal, losing after opening Roi Valet from the button to 2 million.
Lucas Bertrand 3-bets from the small blind with Ace Ten mismatched at 7.2 million and the duo are on 7 7 Ten with 16 million chips in the middle. Lucas bets 4 million and quickly calls when the Dutchman goes all-in for almost 18 million.
We're on the end of 400,000 - 800,000 (800,000) and the best hand will stay ahead after a 5 and a 2 turn... enough to allow Lucas Bertrand to arrive in HU with 56 of the 84 million chips in circulation.

Reda Runner-Up for €29,453
Reda Belkhou had a very nice Day 2, and he was again the author of a very solid game on Day 3. The Frenchman logically slipped into the 3-way deal, where he secured just over €29,000, and put up a good fight in the final duel.
With 30 blinds and 29 million against his opponent's 54, Reda wasn't the favorite, but he managed to almost draw level and held out for a good half-hour. His opponent closed the gap when he showed Ace-King on an Ace-As-6-9-6 board after raising river... Reda flashed a 6 to fall to 8 million chips.
As the blinds rose to 600,000 - 1,200,000, the end was nigh. Reda Belkhou went all-in on the last hand, from the button with Ace 6... but he couldn't do anything about his opponent's logical call with King 5.
A King on the flop and a 5 on the river put an end to Reda's tournament, confirming his fine 55th place finish last May at the BPC 2024...

Lucas Bertrand turns €250 into €40,036
An amateur player from Nancy, Lucas Bertrand "rents a house with his buddies once a year, often in Namur". He triumphed over a field of 1,697 entrants to claim his first live success!
The Frenchman had started with the 5th smallest stack going into Day 3, at 32 left, and found himself up against the wall from the outset, but ended the day €40,036 richer and with a CPS Main Event ticket worth €2,200. "I swapped a bit with my brother," confided the champion a few seconds after his Namur victory. "This win makes me happy, it's cool," continued the winner, quiet and discreet as at the tables.
On the ropes from the start of the day on Sunday, Lucas Bertrand made his way to the semi-finals "without showdown" or almost. There, he was even more aggressive. With just the right timing, he hit a square 9 to take off, and it was in chipleader position that he reached the final.
While he sometimes benefited from the work of Danny UmmelsLucas Bertrand often made the right decisions.
