32 players on Final Day, €7,500 for the champion

The €330 Freezout Event #7 of the Circus Poker Series eventually attracted 109 entrants to exceed its guarantee and offer a prizepool of just over €29,000.

32 players made it through the 11 half-hour levels of the opening day, and from 2pm on Thursday they'll be battling it out to get into the 15 paid places before setting out to claim the €7,500 first prize.

F. Lauria

The levels are now 40 minutes long, and Francesco Lauria (above) is leading the way. Lauria has bagged up 257,000 chips or just over 85 blinds for Final Day, ahead of Quentin Destercq (242,000 /below) and Philippe Riminucci (217,000)...

Resumption on Thursday at 2pm in blinds 1500 - 3000 (3000) with an average of 102,000 chips.

Silver gets closer

90 minutes of play on the Final Day of Event #7 Freezout and the field has been whittled down.

32 of the 109 entrants in the €330 single-elimination tournament had qualified for Day 2, but now only 24 are in the running as the blinds climb to 2,500 - 5,000 (5,000).

The average is 136,000 chips and the €7,500 first prize will not go to Xavier Servais or Damien Hupe.

Bubble

It's been almost two levels and 45 minutes since the hand-by-hand action began in Event #7 Freezout... The last 16 players in contention are grouped together on two tables, and no one wants to end up in the worst place, the last player to join the rail empty-handed.

Jeffrey van Hamburg, JS Denissa, Peter Cooman, Guillaume Fontaine, Max Wind, Denneth Rodgers, Chen Lin and Harmen Krijgsman have all retired since our last visit. Denissa dropped to 18th place for 15 paid seats after a Full vs. Full...

Tous En Finale

In the end, it was JP Wanet who came off worst in the tournament. The last player to leave empty-handed, JP missed out on the €520 min-cash after just over 40 minutes of hand-for-hand play.

After that, no one got excited and there was none of the usual popcorn moment... until the double elimination of Nicolas Destercq and Dietmar Walter within seconds of each other on the last two tables of the tournament.

It took 50 minutes of play after the bubble burst to get the final table, as Gert Swolfs surrendered in the process.

After a 20-minute break currently in progress, the survivors of this field of 109 entrants will return to blinds 5000 - 15,000 (15,000) with the assurance of a win of at least €880, on a single table therefore.

Brahim Potato, Sandro Gangi, Lander Dejonghe and Pierre Riminucci are in the lead, all with around 500,000 chips, while the average will be 363,000 when the action resumes...

Lander Dejonghe at the helm

Only six players remain in the €330 CPS Event #7 Freezout, and Lander Dejonghe leads the way. The Belgian has 1.2 million in chips, averaging 545,000 on blinds 10,000 - 15,000 (15,000).

With 30 minutes left to play in this round before an hour-long dinner break, Lander has closed the gap, with Philippe Riminucci (800,000) and Sandro Gangi (500,000) his closest pursuers. Behind them, Francesco Lauria, Brahim Potato and Daniel Rosero are clinging on for places and euros!

Conclusion in sight?

Francesco Lauria jumped off the podium at 9:30 p.m., 135 minutes ago! Since then, the final trio of Sandro Gangi, Philippe Riminucci and Lander Dejonghe have been relentless.

The last three survivors in this field of 109 entrants battle it out over 40-minute levels, and the gap is rather small, even if Philippe Riminucci seems to have taken the upper hand.

The blinds are 25,000 - 50,000 (50,000) and there are 3.2 million chips in circulation... Philippe has just under half of them and Dejonghe goes short with 15 blinds, a double-up and he's off again!

Freezout for Sandro Gangi (6.832€)

"The battle was merciless, I'm happy after finishing the first day with a small stack of 52,000... I had completely suffered that day, here I was luckier and the trophy is beautiful," rejoiced the winner.

After 3 hours and 10 minutes of 3-up play, Sandro Gangi won a 40-60 to finish off Lander Dejonghe and contest the final duel with Philippe Riminucci.

The final pair of the €330 tournament, which had attracted 109 entrants, then decided to split the rest of the prize money equally before leaving a small ticket and the trophy to the winner.

Winner of the French Open Warm-Up at the start of the season, Sandro collects the third trophy in the Circus Poker Series. He collected €6,832 against €5,632 for his runner-up.

A total of 32 players returned for Day 2, played over 40-minute levels, and it took almost 4 hours of play to reach the 15 paid places in this Freezout tournament. The Final Day was spread over 12 hours of play...
