750,000 guaranteed on the Main Event

The main tournament of the Circus Poker Series 2024 kicked off on Tuesday December 3 at 1pm at the Circus Casino Resort in Namur. 

The second edition of the €2,200 CPS Main Event features a €750,000 guarantee with 4 starting days (50,000 chips - 60 min.) and 90-minute levels for Days 3 and 4... 

9 levels are on the program for the opening days, with 11 late registration levels. Visit registrations are possible on the first two levels of Day 2 until 2:30 p.m. on December 6... 

With blinds 100 - 200 (200) to start with, there weren't many people at the shuffle-up & deal, but there are now 29 in the running. This is the first break of the tournament after two hours of poker... Resumption on 200 - 400 (400) in a few minutes... 

A breath of fresh air in Namur

The €2,200 CPS Main Event is the most expensive of the year's main tournaments in Namur... for months players have been collecting tickets on satellites, so there's value for seasoned players to come and take on amateurs over 60- and 90-minute levels in a deep tournament guaranteeing a €750,000 prizepool! 

In 2023, for the first edition which brought together 555 entrants, it was Max Wind who won for just over €129,000. The Dutchman took the lion's share of a prizepool of just over a million euros, the second-biggest prize pool in the casino's history!

After a 5-way deal in which he had secured €109,083 on a split at the ICM Max Wind had finally won €129,083 for this victory as well as an EPT Prague Main Event ticket. "I don't know what happened!I don't know where I'm at, but I'm very happy," confided the champion after his unexpected triumph, since the former aspiring pro had only returned to poker a few weeks before his triumph!

Yoan Argence takes the lead

The dream over the first six hours of play for Yoan Argence, who reached the dinner stage with the Yellow Jersey and already 232,000 in chips. Not bad with a starting stack of 50,000 chips and a restart at 9:20 p.m. on blinds 500 - 1000 (1000). Nothing's done for Yoan, but there'll only be three 60-minute levels left before the break!

There are currently 48 players on the break for 66 entrants... last year's Day 1A had 80 entries for a final prizepoo of over a million euros and 555 entrants...

Jean-Marie Vandeborne King of Day 1A

The first of four qualifying sessions for the €2,200 Circus Poker Series Main Event is in the books. After 9 levels and 9 hours of poker, the field of 71 entrants was whittled down to 27 players on Tuesday at the Circus Casino Resort in Namur. 

Jean-Marie Vandeborne took the lead thanks to a fine end to the day which saw him defeat Guy Goossens. Goossens was finished off by Yoan Argence, who got off to the best possible start on the opening day of the Main Event.

The first edition of the CPS Main Event took place in 2023 and attracted 55 entrants. The prizepool exceeded one million euros...

See you on Wednesday at noon for Day 1b, with another 9 levels of 60 minutes each...
