He showed a great deal of patience at this final table, taking the right spots and doubling up three times against his future runner-up, the first time with As-Queens against As-Suited 8s, the second time with Aces against As-Suited 10s and the third time with Aces (again!) against Jacks
Solid, discreet and cautious, Matthias Mordhorst won the Main Event of the Namur Classics without having impressed, but by playing applied, German-style poker and handling his short-stack marvellously.
Admittedly, he hit a lot of big games, twice hitting the arrows on this final table, but above all he managed not to crack and waited for the chips to come his way.
He won this Namur Classics Main Event in a field of 1,270 entries, collecting €45,805 and a ticket for the CPS Main Event next December.
A large number of Germans attended the Namur Classics, and they are expected to return regularly to the Circus Casino Resort in Namur, and will no doubt be in attendance at the Belgian Poker Challenge, which starts on 8 May.
