A three-way deal for €168,000!

After a three-hour final, Sjors Heldens, Dejan Jakovljevic and Antoine Delporte reached an agreement a few minutes after the last Belgian in the running was eliminated. Denis Charlier(4th) finished just off the podium with €27,730 after his tens were cracked by Dejan’s ace-seven...

Leading at the time of the ICM deal, Dutchman Sjors Heldens pocketed €62,890 and, like the top six, a €2,200 CPS Main Event ticket. “The last time I came here I got drunk, but this time it’s ended well,” said the amateur, who had to travel back and forth for work between his qualification on Thursday and Day 2 on Saturday. “We’re happy,” summed up Antoine Delporte, referring to a deal that gave him a little more than the original second-place prize; the pair who completed the podium had 30 blinds. Dejan felt the same way, and his absence from the photo suited him just fine.

WSOP winner Sergio Benso was annoyed with himself for having bluffed, but “you can’t win every time”. The Italian pocketed €21,200, with the Top 8 having turned their €550 entry fee into a five-figure sum at this Wallonia Poker Series Main Event, which attracted 1,317 entrants. In an international final, Ireland’s Joseph O’Neill (5th) will also be returning to the Circus Casino Resort in Namur. “I know where I’ll be spending my birthday,” he laughed, knowing full well the date on which he’ll be able to use his CPS ticket…

Day 3 began at 1.00 pm with 24 players, including Alexis Court (12th), who had already made a deep run in the High-Roller, and the last female player remaining, Natascha Zijlstra (13th). It was a early exit, however, for chip leader Hans Gaaikema, who was knocked out in 16th place after just two hours of play, despite having a massive stack when play resumed. Two-time KTPS winner Chris Rubbini (22nd) was powerless to prevent his elimination… yet this small but talented field still took a substantial share of the event’s €592,650 prize pool.

The winners shared over €333,000 in this Main Event on Sunday at the Circus Casino Resort in Namur. Next up is the Pure Poker Festival at the end of August, featuring Thomas Boivin’s entire team…
