Lucrative October for Steve Cottet (€35,900)

Hopp Schwiiz! Not even three hours into the final, a one-handed head's up, Steve Cottet 's victory was clean and straightforward at the Oktoberfest Mystery Bounty 2025.

The Swiss beat a field of 1,316 entrants to pocket €35,900 in cash and two €2,200 CPS Main Event tickets. The amateur finance manager, who enjoys "the adrenaline of the game", was nonetheless measured after winning his first trophy on the circuit. "It's more than a salary, it's a nice nest egg and it's the culmination of a year in which I played a lot of deep-runs and didn't win a trophy. After that I'd happily take second place with €10,000 more... but I wasn't unlucky in the bonus draw.

"This rewards a year with some great runs, I had the opportunity to play a tournament I wanted to play a big field so Namur," confided the champion, admitting that he didn't think about winning until he arrived with the chiplead in the final. "At the end, it was easy, not a headache; they left me behind, but a performance makes you happy," said the man who outplayed the competition at the end.

Runner-up Guy Goossens had a big weekend, the veteran was in cash all night between Day 2 and the Final Day... the PLO session was lucrative and the best Belgian of the tournament added €23,250 in cash on this Oktoberfest at €350 per entry. Once the chipleader in the final, Dutchman Remco Stoeltjes finished third and pocketed €19,860 all in. He beat Christian Delacombaz, the second Swiss in the final. Also an amateur, Christian took the provisional lead on Day 3, which began with 28 survivors and saw no one definitively stun the proceedings before the champion eliminated his last four competitors in half an hour.

There were 14 Belgians on Day 3, which saw the 9 finalists come together after 4 hours 40 minutes of intensive poker. "I have to admit that when I saw that the people who had caused me the most problems during the day had jumped, I said to myself [that I could win]... but not before because I try not to think too much about what might happen", admitted the winner after his success at the Circus Casino Resort in Namur... probably thinking about the back-to-back exits of Xavier Servais (12th), Rens Buijs (11th) and Mohamed Taabouni (10th). These three players livened up the tournament and the final day of competition, positioning themselves in the breakaways at one point or another...

Chipleader going into the final day after taking one of the two Max bonuses, Steven de Baraeckenier also lost out in the semi-finals for a total prize money of €22,340, almost as good as runner-up Goossens! The last Frenchman in the field, Sébastien Lalande, had bowed out just before in 15th place.

Four Belgians reached the final with Jean-François Prud' homme winning a five-figure prize (€10,200) and Yves Senterre taking a nice deep-run to win a €2,200 bonus CPS ticket. Half of the Belgian contingent jumped into the first 90 minutes of a day contested on 50-minute levels with a short game for Jan Verbraeken or Joshua Gil.

The 191 players in the money at this tournament shared out over €380,000, with €164,500 in the bonus pool and €215,560 up for grabs depending on your ranking. Always a big crowd in Namur!
