An amateur sports teacher, Ronny Bouwmans finished second in the previous edition of the Namur Classics, winning €39,803 for €350 from a field of 1,270 entrants. The Belgian tried his luck again with one idea in mind: to do better.

"The job is done", he confided after triumphing over a field of 1,372 entrants in the 2025 edition. This time he walks away with €56,000 and a CPS 2025 Main Event ticket, just like the last 4 runners-up in this event, which rewarded 199 players.

Ronny Bouwmans, Alirez Kal and Jos Ten Have took the lion's share of the €396,000 prize pool. The last 7 players in the running won a 5-figure prize as 32 players returned to the Final Day, a JUR 3 played over 50-minute levels.

It was after 70 minutes that Ronny Bouwmans concluded the final duel, a duel that began almost level but in which he had to let the storm pass for a good 20 minutes.

"Last year I finished runner-up, I just had to win... the money was secondary during the last duel," explained Ronny. "I don't play too much because I'm building my house... the whole tournament I was more or less average, it built up slowly but when I eliminated Rens Buijs I told myself I could do better than last year," commented the champion. "I had the feeling that he was the most dangerous, so after that the door was open and I took my chance," continued the champion, supported by a friend and his girlfriend.

Alireza returned to greet the winner with fair play. "He was successful, it was hard so I was more and more aggressive. It ended well," concluded Ronny before posing with his trophy.
