The €250 Holiday Main Event attracted 1,697 competitors, and after three days of competition it's a French amateur who has hit the jackpot.

An amateur player from Nancy, Lucas Bertrand "rents a house with his mates once a year, often in Namur". He triumphed over a field of 1,697 entrants to claim his first live win!

The Frenchman had started with the 5th smallest stack at the start of Day 3, at 32 left, he found himself up against the wall from the outset but ended the day €40,036 richer and with a Circus Poker Series Main Event ticket worth €2,200. "I swapped a bit with my brother," said the champion a few seconds after his victory in Namur. "This win makes me happy, it's cool", continued the winner, quiet and discreet as he was at the tables.

On the ropes from the start of the day on Sunday, Lucas Bertrand made his way through to the semi-finals with little or no showdown. There, he was even more aggressive. With the right timing, he hit a square of 9s to take off and it was in a chipleader position that he reached the final.

Although he sometimes benefited from the work of Danny Ummels, Lucas Bertrand often made the right decisions. He said he was "happy with his game" after the conclusion of a final duel in which he had started in the lead. For his second live final, he finished 5th in the 2019 Oktoberfest here in Namur, and the Lorraine native finally pocketed the jackpot.
